In our latest ‘a day in the life of’ we’d love to introduce you to Sally Gadsdon, senior lettings negotiator as part of the Market Harborough lettings team.
Sally has been an integral part of the team for over two years now and you can see exactly why here:
What made you chose this industry and area of work?
I started my career at the age of 17 in an estate agent in Buckinghamshire, after studying a secretarial course at college. After spending time supporting the lettings manager there, I quickly became a lettings negotiator then progressed further with a couple of companies in Northamptonshire where I furthered my career and became a manager. A move to the south west of the country and another spell in property sales confirmed my preference for property lettings. Life then bought me back to this area of the country. I love working in this busy environment, in the lovely town of Market Harborough and find it really fulfilling.
How does your working day start?
I tend to wake up before 6am and go for a run to sharpen my mind for the day ahead and like to start work early to prepare for the working day.
What can a typical day involve for you?
I start off each day with a team meeting where we catch up with everything that needs to be discussed. Once the meeting has finished, I am straight onto my duties as being office teas maid as I can’t start the day without a good cuppa! I plan the working day ahead with my great colleague Sophie which generally involves all new business, pending tenant applications, property enquiries, new property instructions – all of which always leads to a very busy day.
What do you like most about your job?
Dealing with an array of people with different personalities and the excitement of helping a tenant to find their new home. l love building and maintaining relationships with our clients and in normal circumstances working face to face with our great team which I have missed during Covid-19.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
I have always enjoyed helping people whether it be landlords or tenants, and it is always hard when we face challenges, and some are easier to resolve than others.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I really enjoy keeping active either running or workouts in our home gym. I also enjoy a bit of downtime at the weekends, long walks followed by winding down with a glass of wine (or two) with savoury nibbles! Pre Covid-19 I liked to go out for drinks and dinner and can’t wait to be able to do that again.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Definitely an early bird – I like to get up and get things done!
