In our latest ‘a day in the life of’ you can meet Lindsey Wardle, senior lettings negotiator at our Leicester office, and find out how with her passion for property and people it makes the perfect job for her.


What made you chose this industry and area of work?

I had worked in retail for several years prior to working at Andrew Granger and Co and decided I would like to progress my career in a different direction.

Purchasing my first home sparked my interest in property and shortly after I decided to apply for a role as lettings negotiator for Andrew Granger & Co. I have always enjoyed customer focused roles and combining that with my interest in property is what attracted me to work in the property industry.


How does your working day start?

Currently I divide my time between working from home and working in our Leicester office.

In both instances I begin the day by working through my emails and responding to any tenant and landlord enquiries that may have popped up overnight.


What can a typical day involve for you?

As I am responsible for managing the lettings portfolio in Leicester alongside my colleague Jasmine, the day typically includes dealing with day-to-day maintenance requests and general tenancy enquiries.

I also carry out valuations, set up new property instructions, attend general viewings and routine property inspections, set up new tenancies, complete referencing and attend end of tenancy inspections.

We also work hard to make sure our landlords are kept up to date with all new regulations, ensuring that they have all the relevant certification in place for their property such as gas safety and electrical checks.

Each day is different, and we are always tremendously busy which makes the days fly by!


What do you like most about your job?

I love getting to visit different properties and helping prospective tenants find their perfect home! I also enjoy liaising with our clients, negotiating and meeting new people.

It’s important for me to make sure the whole process, from appraisal, to viewing, to move in, go as smoothly as possible, for both the landlord and tenant alike.


What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

For me personally, one of the bigger challenges, as with most jobs, is dealing with conflict however it arises.

It’s also difficult disappointing people when their application for a property has not been accepted by the landlord.

We frequently have several applications per property so unfortunately someone often ends up missing out.


What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

I have a small child who is forever keeping me on my toes and extremely busy at home! I also enjoy DIY projects.

I have just purchased a new home which is my third renovation project. Predominantly I do all the work myself…. with the help of my dad of course!

When I do get some downtime, I enjoy binge watching a tv series on Netflix.


Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Neither! An early night and a lay in once in a while would be the dream!
