Andrew Granger & Co asks, can you help with the current shortfall in properties for sale?

Tue 27 July 2021

According to Rightmove and their recent House Price Index, due to the incredibly busy property sales for the first half of 2021 there is currently a shortfall of 225,000 homes for sale across the UK.

Compared to previous years, 140,000 more sales have been agreed with 85,000 fewer new property listings than the long-term average, so this surge in activity has revealed a shortfall of 225,000 homes for sale.

Coupled with this, Rightmove explains that it has been the busiest ever first half of a year to date pushing average prices of properties coming to market to a new record high for four consecutive months, and £21,389 higher (+6.7%) in just six months.

There has been a 39% surge in sales of properties with four+ bedrooms, while sales of three-bedroom homes have also increased by 28%.

At Andrew Granger & Co we’re aware that the Stamp Duty Holiday will have had a large impact in people’s decisions to move. But we’re still seeing a very active property market as Covid-19 has changed property priorities for a lot of people, and Leicestershire and Northamptonshire are proving even more popular than usual.

If you’re considering putting your property on the market and helping to address the current property shortfall, please get in touch with our knowledgeable sales teams for your free market appraisal.
