Andrew Granger & Co discusses the demand for country life

Mon 12 October 2020

I don’t think anyone would have predicted the current buoyancy of the housing market given the fact that we are currently working our way through a pandemic, and a recent article in The Times certainly struck a chord with us here at Andrew Granger & Co.

Since lockdown lifted in May people that had had to put moving temporarily on hold joined those who are now viewing their lives and jobs in a new light, and simply wanting or needing different things from their homes.

Like other agents we are seeing a real demand for country, village and market town properties as more people are now working from home and commuting less whilst it seems generally wanting a feeling a space around them.

People’s priorities are changing and the need for space follows into the home as requirements for a designated work space is key for a lot of people now coupled with a move from a city to the country often offering you more for your money.

The current stamp duty incentive has also actively encouraged people to move sooner than they were perhaps planning too. And why not given that according to the latest Halifax house price index house prices have risen by 7.3% this year, the fastest growth we have seen since 2016 along with the stamp duty holiday potentially saving you up to £15,000.

With an abundance of properties coming onto the market all the time, if you are considering moving our advice would be to go for it.
