Andrew Granger & Co gets ready to cook with the Dean of Leicester

Thu 29 October 2020

Leicester Cathedral has had to think outside of the box in order for their vital annual fundraiser, the Guild of St Martin Dinner, to still go ahead on the 4th November.

Regional property firm Andrew Granger & Co has sponsored the event which this year enables guests to attend the event virtually from home.

Featuring Ready, Steady, Cook with the Dean - with a video and recipes to be released in advance inviting guests to make the dinner a fun shared experience with everyone eating the same, or similar, meal at home.

Throughout the evening there will also be guest speaker, Bishop Guli, talking about ‘Belonging and Becoming’, musical entertainment, a short quiz, and a silent auction.

Dinner guests will have the option to join others in breakout tables of six to ten – either with people that have been arranged in advance or choose the wild card and see who the random dinner date generator selects!

The Very Revd David Monteith, Dean of Leicester says: “Our annual dinner is a vital source of income for us but also an important time for the community to gather and give thanks for abundance in hospitality and goodwill in our great city and county”.

Andrew Robinson, Director at Andrew Granger & Co, says: “We have enjoyed supporting and attending this event for many years and this year will be no exception, if just a little different.

“It’ll be a shame to not be in the spectacular surrounding of the cathedral itself this time but I’m sure it’ll still be a superb evening and the great news is the fundraiser can still go ahead and is helping to safe guard the building for years to come”.

Leicester Cathedral sits at the heart of the city and county. The church, built on the site of a Roman temple and dedicated to St Martin of Tours, has been embedded in the religious life of the community since medieval times.

Since 1927, as the seat of the Bishop of Leicester, the cathedral gathers people together for worship, celebration, debate and to help the poor and vulnerable welcoming everyone, especially visitors in search of the story of King Richard III.

The virtual Leicester Cathedral Guild of St Martin Dinner takes place on Wednesday 4th November from 7.00 – 8.30pm. Each guest needs a ticket to take part at a cost of £10.54 each and the tickets can be purchased from https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-guild-of-st-martin-annual-dinner-2020-tickets-125078199261 or by calling 07944 891867.
