The 30th Ride+Stride event in Leicestershire this year, was a huge success.
With the weather truly on their side, numerous visitors cycled, walked and ran to raise sponsorship money to visit as many of the 370 participating churches in one day.
The annual event, which takes place on the second Saturday of September each year, raises funds for the Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust which in turn gives grants to historic churches and chapels throughout Leicester and Leicestershire for repairs, restoration, renovations and improvements – keeping these stunning and important buildings open for worship and community use.
Janet Arthur, Chair of the Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust, said: “We had a wonderful Ride+Stride day. We are still collecting the sponsorship money but hope to have raised £30,000 this year, shared between individual churches and the Trust.
“The weather was perfect, Leicestershire looked beautiful and my husband and I enjoyed a warm welcome at many of the 24 churches we visited on our electric bikes.”
Janet and her husband Gordon raised an amazing £4,000 between them and Janet adds: “Everyone that took part in the day should feel hugely proud as an amazing amount of money has been raised – thank you.”
Local property experts Andrew Granger & Co showed their support by sponsoring the event for the sixth year in a row.
