Happy work anniversary, Leigh!

Thu 19 May 2022

In our latest blog we celebrate Leigh, sales manager, and valuer for our Leicester office, having been a much-valued member of the Andrew Granger & Co team for 10 years now, and use the opportunity to catch him for a chat…

A lot can happen in 10 years, what changes have you seen in the property industry over that time?

Looking back, even though properties were advertised in the office window and online, the Leicester Mercury Saturday newspaper (property guide) used to be a huge deal and we’d always have to prepare ourselves for the phone ringing off the hook all day. Now, advertising is predominantly done online through our website, property portals and social media – something we’re able to manage and spread out throughout the week. This enables us to give our clients the kind of service they deserve.

We’ve also seen more processes put in place over the years – HIPS (Home Information Packs) came and went but floorplans, property videos, EPCs (energy performance certificates) and anti-money laundering criteria are a big part of the behind the scenes work we do now.

The biggest change of all has probably been the use of social media, and therefore how quickly we can market a property – which is fantastic.

What changes do you think have been for the better?

Without a doubt, changes in technology and online marketing - everything is more instant, accessible, and mobile meaning we can be flexible and work remotely. But nothing still quite beats the ability to meet and greet clients at our office face to face too. Our new Stoughton office is perfect for that, especially with it having free car parking.

What do you think has led you to continue to work for Andrew Granger & Co for 10 years?

I like my colleagues a lot, and that’s important when you spend so much time together. I’m also very grateful for how the directors listen to the employee’s point of views and ideas and have continued to make improvements and develop the company over the years – and simply make it a nice environment to work in. Andrew Granger & Co are a very diverse property firm that can help with all areas of the property industry – not just property sales, and I’m very proud of that.

What do you enjoy about your job role and the property industry, in order that you’ve now worked in the industry for over 17 years?

I genuinely love property and how different they can all be, in terms of age, style, and interior décor – no two houses or clients are the same and for that reason I never get tired of my job.

Is there anything else you hope to achieve?

If there was ever an opportunity, I would really like to be considered to become a partner of the business at Andrew Granger & Co and manage the Leicester office. I’m very happy with the company and things are changing and evolving all the time, so you never know. I think it’s good to have goals in life.

If money were no object, what would your dream home be, and where?

My husband and I currently live on the east side of Leicester and are extremely happy there. We’ve spent a lot of time getting our home just how we want it, and the location is perfect for all aspects of our life. Our dream would be to stay in this area and build a two-bedroom detached property (nothing too big), with a tree-lined driveway approaching it, and its own land surrounding it. Enough for us to have a few farm animals and dogs roaming around, hopefully, one day!

Leigh works as part of the Andrew Granger & Co Leicester office sales team, based at Stoughton Grange in Oadby. If you’re considering selling your property, he would be only too happy to provide you with a free-market appraisal and answer any questions you may have. Having worked in the local area and property market for over 17 years, you will get to understand why he has gained so much knowledge and enjoys his job so much.
