How a group of five Leicestershire villages have such a draw

Wed 28 December 2022

Thorpe Langton, East Langton, West Langton, Church Langton, and Tur Langton……what is it about these villages in Southeast Leicestershire and why are they so sought after?

It’s something Andrew Granger & Co’s Market Harborough sales team are very used to, so it was interesting to hear Sales Director, Peter Buckingham’s views on this:

“For as long as I can remember The Langtons have consistently remained highly desired villages to live in, and for several reasons, I think.

“Firstly, they’re all very pretty villages with a real mix of attractive period and character properties. They all have active communities, with Church Langton offering a highly respected primary school, four of the villages have great pubs, Tur Langton has a rural business complex offering independent shops, a café and office space, and Thorpe Langton has an independent brewery.

“Each of the villages, which are situated near to each other, provides that perfect combination of rural locations, surrounded by beautiful countryside but with the benefit of everyday amenities being only a 5-10-minute drive away – with the popular market town of Market Harborough, thriving large village of Kibworth, and well-liked village of Great Bowden all close by.

“As well as offering a great range of amenities for all ages, Market Harborough also benefits from being on the East Midlands Railway Line with regular trains to London St Pancras - some journeys only taking an hour.

“The Langtons all sit either on or near to the B6047 which leads to the popular road links of the A6 and A47 – making getting to places such as Market Harborough, Kibworth, Leicester, Lutterworth, Northampton and beyond, easy.

“Another advantage of living in this area of Leicestershire is the choice of excellent schools, including public and private education options. The Langtons are well served by some of the country’s best private schooling, such as that of Leicester Grammar School, Oakham and Uppingham.

“The only downside to this group of villages is that, understandably, properties don’t come onto the market that often. The positive side to this is that if you’re lucky enough to own a property within one of The Langtons it will hold its value well and be a good long-term investment. We would love to try to help make your dream move come true.”
