June sees surge in demand from renters

New data from Rightmove has revealed that demand from tenants looking for a new property increased by 7% between May and June. The previous average rise for this period has been just 1% over the last few years.
The figures suggest that the introduction of the new Tenant Fees Act, which became law on June 1st and prevents landlords and letting agents charging certain admin fees, has had a positive impact in the number of people looking to move rental property.
This uplift also suggests people have been looking to move earlier than usual, with the historical busy period being July.
These factors combined with the rental stock shortage of the last few years, means it may take slightly longer for tenants to find the perfect rental home.
