Why Andrew Granger & Co. feel Market Harborough is one of the best places to live in the UK

Wed 26 April 2023

The Sunday Times recently listed Market Harborough as one of the best places to live in the UK, and as we’re lucky enough to live and work in the area we thought we’d share the thoughts from some of our sales team as to why we feel this is.

Peter, Director:

“Having lived in south Leicestershire for most of my life, Market Harborough has always been the town which offers so much: a wonderful variety of shops and supermarkets, lots of characterful bars, cafés and restaurants, great sporting and leisure opportunities, highly regarded schools and the town has a big heart created by so many amazing people in the town and surrounding villages. We are also do lucky having regular trains to London in less than an hour. I love it here!”

Yvonne, Sales Manager:

“Well, I moved here nine years ago and still like the area. It has great links to main roads, such as M1, M6 and A14, A6 and then the railway station, so it’s ideal for getting anywhere in the UK.

“It has very good shopping facilities and some lovely shops, from main retailers to the smaller independents.  There are numerous places to get a fab meal for any budget.

“I also feel safe walking around on my own and there are so many wonderful places to walk my dog.”

Ella, Sales Negotiator:

“I love living here as it is the perfect mix of town and countryside. You are never too far away from a countryside or waterside walk, and there are still great places to shop, eat and go out of an evening.”

Sharon, Personnel and Administration Assistant:

“When we decided to leave Belton in Rutland, it was so that we could be nearer to all amenities rather than driving to them, and the fact there was an expanding hospital in the town also came into the decision. Market Harborough has the countryside right on its doorstep, and at present it is not too large a town to have lost its charm. There are good supermarkets, and for a family the town has everything you would want – leisure centre, mainline rail services, schools, and theatre to name a few.

“For me of course, there is the added bonus of the canal, so lots of wildlife, as well as a very pretty park and the Millennium Mile which takes you all the way from one side of the town to the other.

“Throughout the year there are various events held, Arts Fresco, Classic Cars, regular farmers markets, Late Night Christmas Fayre to name a few, which are always packed.”

Amy, PR and Marketing Manager:

“I grew up here, moved away whilst studying and starting my career, and moved back when I got married and started a family. For us it’s the perfect combination of all the amenities we need close by with the countryside also on our doorstep. You’re really can’t ask for more than that and we feel very lucky.”

Emma, Sales Negotiator:

“For me, I like how well linked it is to the rest of the UK, whether that’s the one-hour train to London or the easy access to numerous motorways.

“I grew up in Harborough and its always felt like quite a safe place to live. I don’t worry much walking round alone and people are friendly.”
